APLF-Leather covers the leather supply chain from raw, crust to finished leathers, chemicals, dyes, tanning machinery, design and support services and Materials+ covers footwear components, performance fabrics, accessories, fibres, manufacturing equipment and wearable technologies. Although Asia Pacific Leather Fair (APLF) Hong Kong Fair, which was first held in 1984, started targeting the Asia Pacific region, it has become the indispensable focal point of the international leather industry in the process. APLF has dedicated many years to organising leather and fashion trade shows, attracting 60,000 visitors annually and providing the venue for first-rate business and networking amongst exhibitors, buyers and industry professionals.
APLF Fair was held in Dubai/United Arab Emirates for the first time in 2022. After the 2020 and 2021 periods, which did not take place due to Hong Kong closing its borders as a result of the Covid-19 epidemic that has been ongoing since 2020, Dubai was preferred by targeting the Middle East as a result of the consultation.
A total of 463 participants from 35 countries and regions took part in APLF-Leather, Materials+ and Fashion Access. 20 national pavilions from Brazil, Egypt, France, Georgia, India, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA, Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe were created in a total exhibition area of 20,000 square meters. Due to the COVID-19 travel and quarantine restrictions in force, participants especially from China could not take part in the fair. However, considering the location where the fair is held, this has provided opportunities for buyers from the Indian subcontinent countries to participate.
Within the scope of Turkish national participation; A total of 22 Turkish companies, 17 in the processed-semi-processed leather and fur product group and 5 in the machinery and chemicals product group, took part in the fair with a net stand area of 516 m2. Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association provided information to visitors with its 16.50 m2 Info Stand.
